General #
Here you will find general information about the handheld and the functions of the SECOLO Smart Lock SL1000 / SL1001 electronic locks that apply when using the handheld. Containers that are not equipped with an electronic lock are given a barcode or QR code so that they can be clearly identified. Containers with an electronic lock are identified via the lock, which also has a globally unique ID.
Scanning a barcode #
The barcode scanner of a handheld device is usually located on the front of the device. A distinction must be made as to whether the handheld is equipped with a barcode scanner or a 2D QR code scanner. A 2D OR code scanner can scan both the barcode/barcode and QR codes, unlike a barcode scanner, which can only scan the barcode.
Activating the scanner may vary depending on the device. On the NX2 handheld, there is a button on both the left and right sides of the device to activate the barcode or QR code scanner.
To scan the barcode or QR code, the handheld device should be held in such a way that the scanner (laser line or light spot) is directed at the barcode or QR code. A successful scan is confirmed by an audible signal.

Scanning an electronic lock SECOLO Smart Lock SL 1000 / SL1001 #
Every SECOLO lock, regardless of its year of manufacture, is equipped with a radio interface through which identification and data exchange take place.
The new locks are also equipped with an NFC interface, through which identification and data exchange can also take place.

The centre of the RFID or NFC interface is located at the marked point.
To trigger identification of the lock and data exchange with the handheld, proceed accordingly, depending on the transmission type and equipment of the handheld (with or without radio module).
Handheld with radio module #
On this device, there is an additional module located at the front of the bottom. To initiate identification and data transfer, the ON button (black rubber button on the SL1001 and ON )))-button on the SL1001) on the electronic lock is pressed, and within 2 seconds, the front of the additional module is held against the marked spots.
Handheld with NFC-transmission(without radio module) #
Depending on the device type, the NFC interface of a handheld is located either at the front or in the centre of the device, but always at the bottom.
If the NFC interface for the identification of the lock is activated, it sends impulses to automatically establish a connection with the lock. Therefore, to connect with the lock, you only need to hold the handheld device with the NFC reader area near the marked spot, without pressing any buttons.
On the NX2 handheld device, the NFC reader is located at the bottom, near the front of the barcode scanner. This area of the handheld should be held, as shown in the image (or at a slightly steeper angle), against the marked spot on the electronic lock.

Symbols #

This symbol points to the location where an operation, input or observation is to be made in the handheld app.

If this symbol is next to a function, the function can also be used for a container without an electronic lock but with a barcode.
System requirements #
- The operating system of the mobile device must be ANDROID.
- The mobile device (handheld) must have an NFC interface.
- If the locks communicate exclusively via radio, the device requires a radio module from FMTec, which means that the handheld must also come from FMTec.
Licensing #
- One valid licence is required per device.
- The licence can be transferred to another device if a device is discontinued.
Use handheld and SMM-App #
Login commissioning handheld #
The initial steps are not directly related to the SECOLO Mobile Management App, but are necessary to start the mobile device.
1. switch on the mobile device
2. swipe for PIN entry
3. enter the device PIN
4. check the battery status on the battery symbol and the charge status displayed there. If the battery is not sufficiently charged, place the device in the charging station and use another device for work.
Only now can the SECOLO Mobile Management App be started.
Login SECOLO Mobile Management App #
In the central software, an individual PIN can be set for each user of a mobile device, which they can use to log into the SECOLO Mobile Management App (SMM app). There is no fixed assignment to the mobile device. Anyone can log in to any device with their PIN.
The following steps must be carried out to log in:
1. Start the app

Start by tapping on the SMM app icon.
2. Synchronise the database with the central software
Always synchronise the database with the central software before logging in. This is done by pressing the ‘Last synchronised’ button. The date and time of the last synchronisation appears in the button. Note: Please note that the synchronisation button can be red or green.
Red means that there are changes on the handheld that have not yet been transferred to the central system (SMC - SECOLO Management Centre).
Green means that there are no changes in the handheld, but there may be changes in the central SMC software that need to be transferred to the handheld.
While the data exchange between the handheld SMM app and the central SMC software is running, the display shows ‘Synchronisation running ...’
Once synchronisation is complete, the button appears in green and contains the current date and time.

3. Log in to the SMM-SECOLO Mobile Management App
Activate the cursor and the PIN keypad by tapping in the input field. Enter your own PIN code and finish by pressing the OK button (tick).
Start the login process by pressing the ‘Login’ button. If the PIN code is correct, the next menu opens; if it is incorrect, login is denied.

Selection functions #
Main menu #
After successful login, the main menu of the SMM app appears. Which menus are displayed and therefore available to an app user can be individually customised for each user in the central SMC software.

Container Transfer #
This function is used to assign (transfer) containers to a specific location for a customer. The locking authorisations for this location are loaded into the lock.
Pickup / Exchange #
This function is used to pick up full containers or exchange them for empty ones. During the pickup, the customer’s lock rights are blocked in the full containers, and an "Pickup" event with the date and time is recorded. Since the location of the container is detected during the pickup of a full container, an empty (neutral) container can be assigned to this location without the need for extra location selection. This speeds up the process.
Book arrival at the Facility #
This function can be used to create an ‘arrival event’ for each container arriving at the control centre, if this is required for the report to the customer.
Container Info #
This function can be used to query the electronic lock:
- Container UID
- Date / time in the castle
- Container type
- Current assigned location
- Firmware version
Registration #
This function can be used to register containers and add them to the SECOLO system. The container type is assigned to them immediately. Through synchronisation, the registered containers with the assigned container type are transferred to the central SMC - SECOLO Management Center software.
Functions - Explanation and Application #
Container handover #
To assign a location / parking space to a container, proceed as follows:
1. The "Container Transfer" button

Press the "Container Transfer" button to open the selection of customers or customers/locations.
2. Customers or customers/location selection
All parking and delivery spaces previously defined in the central SMC software are available for selection.

The selection can be made:
1. by entering the name in the search field: A filter is continuously carried out here and the results are offered for selection in the lower area.
2. by scanning the location designation/location ID from the delivery note or order paper.
Once the selection has been made, press the ‘Apply’ button to accept the selection. If the SMM app is parameterised in this way, the menu changes to the ‘Scan order’ menu.
3. Enter order number (optional)

In this menu, the respective order number is recorded by scanning an order barcode from the delivery note or order form and assigned to the subsequent handovers and collections. If the order number has been scanned, the menu switches to ‘Transfer container’.
4. Container handed over
The containers are handed over/delivered in two different ways, depending on whether they are equipped with an electronic lock or not:

1. For containers without an electronic lock, the barcode/QR code on the container is scanned.
2. For containers with an electronic lock, identification and data transmission are carried out by radio or NFC as described in the general section of the manual.
Pickup / Exchange #
The collection or exchange of containers essentially serves three factors:
1. It is documented when a container was collected from the customer.
2. The customer's blocking rights are blocked (sealed) in containers with an electronic lock.
3. The location is recognised during collection and delivery can therefore be made to this location without the customer/delivery point having to make a separate selection (exchange).
Collection only:
Containers are only collected and not exchanged.
1. Press the ‘Collection / exchange’ button.
The menu for entering the order number opens, if this is activated in the app.

2. Enter order number (optional)
In this menu, the respective order number is recorded by scanning an order barcode from the delivery note or order form and assigned to the subsequent handovers and collections.
If the order number has been scanned, the menu switches to ‘Collection’.

3. Collect the container
The bins are collected in two different ways, depending on whether they are equipped with an electronic lock or not:
